From Hesitation to Obedience:

Why I’m Finally Sharing About My Faith, My Life, and My Lessons

I have put off writing and publishing this blog for ages.

For years, I have felt a deep conviction to share my story, my testimony, and the lessons God has taught me. Yet, I resisted. Not because I didn’t have anything to say, but because what I felt led to write about is completely contrary to worldly wisdom.

The world teaches that in business and personal branding, you should avoid using ‘I’ language. Instead, you should use ‘we’ to create a sense of inclusivity or ‘you’ to speak directly to your audience. And I understand why — people want to feel seen, heard, and included. The last thing I want is to come across as self-centered, making everything about me, me, and me.

But here’s the problem: I’ve always struggled with that advice. As a life coach, I don’t see my work as simply imparting wisdom to others — I see my life and my experiences as a mirror to yours. I don’t believe in standing on a pedestal, telling you to follow my example step by step or to avoid my mistakes as if I’ve figured life out. The truth is, I’m just as flawed as anyone else. I’m just as much on this journey called life as you are. How could I claim to be an expert on your life when I’m still learning how to navigate my own?

Instead, I realized the only way I could share authentically was to embrace the ‘I’ language. Because these are my experiences — my mistakes, my moments of growth, and my encounters with God’s grace. I can’t assume that you’ve struggled with the same doubts, made the same choices, or wrestled with the same fears. But I can share my truth, and maybe, just maybe, it will resonate with you in ways I never expected.

So, I made a decision — to ignore the wisdom of the world and to follow God’s direction. This blog, by worldly standards, may seem selfish. It will be about me, my walk with God, my struggles, and my victories. But my hope is that, as you read, you won’t just see my story — you’ll see pieces of your own reflected in it.

Why Am I Writing This Blog?

I want to be clear about my intentions — why I feel led to write and what this blog is (and isn’t) about.

1. Firstly, let’s cover what it’s NOT about: I’m not writing to convince or sell you anything

My goal isn’t to persuade you or pitch my services. Of course, if my words resonate with you and you choose to work with me to create lasting change in your life, I would be honored. But more than anything, I hope this blog blesses you. I hope it sparks something within you — whether that’s reflection, encouragement, or simply the reassurance that you’re not alone in your journey.

2. I’m writing to share my testimony.

I’m writing to bear witness to what God has done in my life. Just as John 20:31 says, “These have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.” I believe that sharing testimony isn’t just about recounting past experiences — it’s about declaring that God is still moving, still active, still transforming lives today. In Hebrew, the word ‘testimony’ (aydooth) means to “do it again with the same power and authority.” Every time we share or read a testimony, we’re inviting God to move again, in our lives and in the lives of others. And THAT is what I am to do with my writings — to invite God to do it again, and again, and again. And again. You get the idea.

3. I’m writing to keep a record of my experiences.

I suffer from forgetfulness. I can’t even remember what I ate for dinner last night, much less what happened to me two weeks ago. Life moves fast, particularly in the world we currently live in. It’s easy to forget the lessons I learn, the prayers God answers, and the moments that shape me. This blog is therefore intended as a record — both for me, as well as for you (perhaps my experiences will trigger a memory of how God has worked in your life!).

4. I’m writing to reveal and be the real me.

‘Being authentic’ is a phrase that is widely shared these days. While it is cliché, it’s also true. Trust is built through authenticity. And so if I want to truly connect with others, I simply cannot hide behind polished, curated content. The people that are in my circle deserve to see the real me — flaws, failures, and all. A friend once told me that one of the most critical, soul-building disciplines is confession. There is nothing as soul-barring as shining a light on the dark areas of my life, the areas that I want to keep hidden because of embarrassment or shame. I’m not saying that I’ll share it all — some things will stay between God and me — but I am saying that I will aim to share stories of triumph and failures in equal measure, without the what-will-make-Amy-look-good censorship filter. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that God doesn’t work through perfection; He works through surrender.

5. I’m writing to issue you an invitation.

While this blog is about my journey, I hope that it serves as a mirror for you — that as you read my experiences, you’ll reflect on your own. That you’ll find moments where you nod and think, I know what that feels like. Or maybe you’ll feel something stir in your spirit, a nudge from the Spirit to pay attention. My prayer is that this blog becomes a tool for self-reflection, an opportunity for you to ask, What is God revealing to me through this?

My Suggestion for How to Read This Blog

While this blog is all about me, it isn’t just about me at all. In fact, it’s about the human experience, about the way God moves in each of our lives.

So with that, I want to encourage you to read every single entry here with yourself in mind. These stories are about my journey, but they are also meant to stir something in you. Don’t just think of this as my or a story — let it be a starting point for your own reflections and insights.

Ask yourself these questions: What about this resonates with me? What emotions or memories does this stir in my heart? Where do I see God’s fingerprints in my own journey? Where and what is the Spirit convicting me about?

Take what resonates with you and leave what doesn’t, but be open to what the Holy Spirit might be whispering through these words. May these words be a prompt for your own growth, healing, and deeper connection with God.

One final suggestion: I once heard it said that ‘Resonance is not obedience’.

Don’t just resonate with the stories and then forget about them as you move on. Perhaps the most important question to ask yourself is this: Am I being obedient to God’s call in my life?

Thank you for reading, reflecting, and being part of this journey with me. I pray that God will use this blog as a tool to encourage and bless your life.

May the good Lord be with you always.

With love and blessings,

Amy x
